Description: Welcome to Part 20 of the WLAN Security Megaprimer! Please start this series by watching Part 1 http://www.securitytube.net/video/1756, if you have not done so already.
In this video, we will start with the basics of WPA/WPA2. WPA was proposed as an interim solution by the Wi-Fi alliance because WEP had become too much of a public embarrassment :) WPA2 was still under design and the release was to happen as the 802.11i draft.
Both WPA/WPA2 have a Personal and Enterprise version. Personal typically uses PSK and Enterprise 802.1x + Radius server. WPA uses TKIP (based on WEP) for encryption and WPA2 uses CCMP (based on AES).
In this video, we will use Wireshark to understand how a Client can know the encryption settings of an access point. This will also help us understand the possibility of a Honeypot for WPA/WPA2.

Welcome back dude! Whoop Whoop Vivek is back on the telly!
Thanks for a brilliant video Vivek. So the nuts and bolts of WPA and isolated clients - it appears that there is no way of knowing if probe requests for stored AP's from the PNL are directed to open, WEP or WPA. All we can do is set up AP's that answer as OPEN, WEP and WPA and see if the client gets excited :-) ?
@Blackmarketeer Yes, I am back with a vengeance to make tons of videos! :)
Yes, the Probe Request does not divulge much and is more of a call for "who is available in this location?" We could trick the client by sending different Probe Responses emulating various security settings in each, and see which one it falls for :)
Once again, a great introduction to WPA. Looking forward to seeing the rest of the series :)
Great video, like every video on your channel.

Sir it would be good if you explain some basics vids on installing wireless card & why we need to install a new hardware for wireless card(especially using backtrack on virtual machine??)) as we do have wi-fi in our laptops, even we can connect the router without any use of external wireless card??i.e we do can connect to router having windows as o.s?
It would be great sir if u tell something about that. .
N rest all ur vids are awsym very easy to understand . .Thanx alot for vids . .
