Botnet Basics

In this video, Team Cymru walks us through the fundamentals of the three basic types of botnet Command and Control (C&C) technologies: IRC (Internet Relay Chat) based, HTTP (or Web) based and P2P (Peer-to-peer) based. They explain how botnets are used to steal money in the Underground Economy as well as looking at how the latest botnet technology has evolved in the last few years. This is a good primer on botnets.
